Maharana Pratap Singh, a 33-year-old entrepreneur living in Khurja, Bulandshahr, has been facing trouble due to a notice sent by the Income Tax Department. The Income Tax Department has sent a notice of Rs 2.6 crore dues to Singh, who has been running a YouTube news portal for the last four years.
According to The ET report, Singh, who earns around Rs 20,000 per month from his YouTube channel, says that when he received the Income Tax Department’s notice for the first time in October 2022, he was shocked.
Register PAN card from multiple firms
On consulting a Chartered Accountant (CA), he learned that his PAN card was linked to seven registered firms, one in Telangana, five in Delhi and one in UP. Singh says that he has no information about these companies, nor does he understand how his PAN card can be used without his consent.
According to the news of Economic Times, Singh has lodged his complaint with the SSP in Bulandshahr. In his complaint, he said that his PAN card was misused by fake companies without his knowledge.
Total 6 notices have come so far
Singh told that he has received a total of six notices from the Income Tax Department so far, and his CA has also replied to them. Along with this, he has also lodged his complaint with the GST department and is currently waiting for their reply.
Expressing concern over such a huge amount, Singh said that even if he sold all his property, he would be able to pay only 10% of the total amount.
Bulandshahr’s SSP Shlok Kumar says that the cyber cell is probing the matter thoroughly and all related documents are being closely scrutinised. Once the investigation is complete, we will take necessary action.
