The era of Fastag seems to be coming to an end. Although nothing has been said officially about it, there are reports that the government is preparing to replace it with a new system GNSS. GNSS means Global Navigation Satellite System, which has also been mentioned by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. It is being said that this system is currently in the testing phase.

With its help, passengers will be able to know the exact amount for using the toll road and make the payment. Along with this, the traditional toll booths will also be removed, where long queues were often formed.

When is GNSS coming?

At present, the government has not announced the date for this, but its testing is going on on two major highways of the country. These include Bengaluru-Mysore National Highway (NH-257) in Karnataka and Panipat-Hisar National Highway (NH-709) in Haryana. After getting the green signal from the top, it will be implemented in a phased manner.
