IMD has said that this year the month of October in India has been the hottest since the year 1901. The average temperature was recorded 1.23 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is no indication about the upcoming winter. The department has predicted that the weather will remain hot even in November. Talking to the media, Director General of the India Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that due to no western disturbance and active low pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal, the weather is not getting cold. He said that this is why the weather is still hot even after the beginning of November.

1901 broken record

IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that the average temperature in October was recorded at 26.92 degrees Celsius. This temperature is the hottest temperature in the country since 1901. Whereas the normal temperature is 25.69 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was also recorded at 21.85 degrees Celsius against the normal temperature of 20.01 degrees Celsius across the country.

When will the cold start

The IMD director said that there will be no significant drop in temperature for the next two weeks. At least for the next two weeks, the temperature in the northwestern plains will remain 2 to 5 degrees above normal. He said that after this the temperature will gradually start falling.

It will rain in South India

Cold will knock in North India from November 15 onwards, while rain is expected in South India in November. The Meteorological Department has said that the South Peninsula may receive rain in the month of November due to the north-eastern monsoon. The IMD has said that heavy rains may occur in many other areas including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala. The Meteorological Office has said that except for some areas of North West India and Central India, most parts of the country are expected to receive more than normal rainfall.
