Canada has tightened its visa rules. This will affect lakhs of Indians. Especially Indian students going to Canada. After the implementation of the new rules, cases of permit cancellation have increased. About 35-40 percent of international students studying in Canada are Indians.
According to the new rule, border officers have been given the power to cancel documents like Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). This includes work permits and student visas. Canada is taking this step to tackle illegal immigration.
Border officials have the right to cancel permits.
The Canadian government has given border security and immigration officers more powers. Officers can cancel a person’s permit. Under the new rules, Canadian immigration and border officers can cancel a person’s ETA, TRV, work and study permit.
If authorities believe that a person will not leave Canada after a certain period of time, they have the power to revoke a permit. A permit can also be revoked if a person’s documents are stolen, lost, or destroyed.
There will be a problem with the work permit.
The new rules also state that if students are denied work and study visas, their immigration documents will be cancelled. In addition, if a student’s study permit is cancelled, he will face difficulty in obtaining a work permit after completing his studies. More than four lakh Indian students are pursuing higher education in Canada
Visa will also be cancelled if false information is provided.
Canada’s new immigration rules will affect anyone who moves there to study, work or live. Authorities will be able to revoke permits even after permanent residency is established and after a person’s death. Temporary visas can be revoked for forged documents, false information and those with a criminal record.
