Vertiports Rules: Time to fly by air taxi is near, DGCA gives approval, start from these cities

Vertiports Rules: While getting stuck on the crowded roads of the city, it definitely comes to all of us at least once that how good it would have been if we could reach our destination by flying.

So now have a little patience because your dream is going to be fulfilled very soon. Soon the facility of air taxi is going to come in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Aviation sector regulator DGCA has given the green signal to the Vertiports Rules. After this, it is being estimated that air taxis will start running in the country from the year 2026.

Green signal given to the rules for building vertiport for air taxi

According to the rules of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, vertiports will be built for these air taxis. These vertiports will be designed in such a way that air taxis can do vertical take off and landing (VTOL) from here. These vertiports will be built on the lines of airports.

IndiGo signs deal with Archer Aviation for 200 Midnight aircraft

The first attempt to launch an air taxi has been made by InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of the country’s largest airline IndiGo. It has signed an agreement with California-based company Archer Aviation to acquire their VTOL aircraft Midnight. Archer Aviation is an electric air taxi manufacturer. IndiGo has invested $1 billion and signed a deal for 200 Midnight aircraft.

Delhi may be the first air taxi centre, followed by Mumbai

According to DGCA, they have held extensive discussions with all stakeholders to formulate rules for vertiports. According to the rules, guidelines have been set for infrastructure, air taxi operational guidelines, battery charging, parking, landing and emergency response for vertiports. Vertiports will be given clearance only after following all these rules. According to the Times of India report, the first air taxi can start in Delhi. After this, this facility will also be provided in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
