Vande Bharat train for Kashmir will be stopped at Katra, train will not run directly from Delhi to Srinagar

A news has come out about the first Vande Bharat Express connecting Kashmir Valley to Delhi. Indian Railways is preparing to start this historic rail service, but there will be an important break in between the journey.

Yes. According to reports, if you travel from Delhi to Srinagar in Vande Bharat, then you will have to change the train at Katra. This decision has been taken due to important reasons related to security and health.

Citing railway officials, India TV reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express running between Katra and Srinagar on April 19. However, a direct service from Delhi to Srinagar is expected to start by August or September. But even in that service, passengers will have to travel by a train from Delhi to Katra and then by another Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar.

Why will there be a change in Katra?

Why will the train change at Katra? The reason for this is the sensitive situation in Kashmir and the challenge of weather. After reaching Katra, the security check of the passengers will be done again, and they will have to wait for 2 to 3 hours. During this time their luggage will also be checked again. The railways has started the work of preparing a special waiting area at Katra station for the convenience of the passengers.

The special thing is that passengers will get only one ticket for the journey from Delhi to Srinagar. That means even if the train is changed, the ticket will remain the same, this will make the journey easy and hassle free. This break is also necessary from the health point of view. Railways says that going directly from a plain area to a high altitude area can cause health problems to many passengers.
