Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, while sharing a video of the successful trial run in Kota division on social media platform X, mentioned speed in his post. In the video, a glass almost filled with water is seen next to a mobile placed on a flat surface inside the Vande Bharat sleeper train. It can be seen in the video that as the train picks up speed of 180 kmph, the level of water in the glass remains constant.
Vande Bharat Train: Achieves speed of 180 km/h between Kota and Laban
On Thursday, the train achieved a speed of 180 km/h during a 30 km long run between Kota and Laban in Bundi district of Rajasthan. On the first day of January 1, 2025, during a 40 km long trial run between Rohal Khurd and Kota, the Vande Bharat sleeper train touched a speed of 180 km/h. On the same day, speeds of 170 km/h and 160 km/h were achieved on the Kota-Nagda and Rohal Khurd-Chowmahala sections. Vande Bharat Train: Facilities like automatic doors, comfortable berths, Wi-Fi
Vande Bharat sleeper trains have been designed with features like automatic doors, extremely comfortable berths, on-board Wi-Fi and aircraft-like design. The biggest task before the railways was to install sleeping seats (berths) in the train and ensure that the train could run smoothly even when fully loaded with passengers and luggage. While doing all this, the train also had to reach a speed of 180 kmph, only then it could be made a Vande Bharat sleeper train.
Vande Bharat Train: Vande Bharat Express train will run at a faster speed than Rajdhani
If the remaining trials of Vande Bharat are successful, it is expected that passengers will get a great rail travel experience in Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Delhi to Mumbai, Howrah to Chennai and other long distance journeys. Currently, the average speed of a train to travel from Mumbai to Delhi is 90 kmph. A train like Tejas Rajdhani Express, which is the fastest among all Rajdhani trains, can run at a maximum speed of 140 kmph. But Vande Bharat Sleeper train will be able to run at a speed of 180 kmph, which will take even less time.
