Vande Bharat sleeper train: The wait for Vande Bharat sleeper is going to end soon. The country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to start operating by the end of the year.
The first Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to leave for Chennai from Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) Bengaluru plant by September 20. Its final testing and commissioning will take place in Chennai which will take about 15-20 days.
According to a report by Money Control, the third version of the Vande Bharat series, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, is expected to run for the first time in Gujarat. U Subba Rao, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai, has said that after final testing and commissioning, the Vande Bharat Sleeper will be run on the mainline for a month or two under the supervision of the Lucknow-based Railway Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). Trial runs are likely to be conducted on the North Western Railway zone for high-speed testing of the train.

This train will be equipped with luxury facilities
The 16 coach Vande Bharat Sleeper train will have 823 berths, which include 11 3AC coaches (611 berths), 4 2AC coaches (188 berths), and 1 1AC coach (24 berths). Vande Bharat Sleeper train is being built on the lines of Europe’s Nightjet sleeper trains. In this train, LED strips will light up on the floor under the stairs for passengers going to the toilet when the lights are off at night. Apart from this, there will also be a separate berth for the train attendant.
The first Vande Bharat sleeper train has been developed by BEML and Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives Ltd. The development has included design inputs from Poland-based European rail consultant EC Engineering. Each sleeper berth will have reading lights, charging sockets, a mobile/magazine holder and a snack table.
