Jammu Srinagar Vande Bharat: Railways has hinted at starting train service between Jammu and Srinagar, with one Vande Bharat Express and two mail/express trains. The Vande Bharat train will complete the journey in 3 hours and 10 minutes. The trains have been modified to run without interruption in winter.

Railways have indicated to start train service between Jammu and Srinagar in the coming weeks. This will be the route between which one Vande Bharat Express and two mail/express trains will run. Railways have also released the timetable of trains on this route. The special thing will be that Vande Bharat train will complete the one-way journey in 3 hours 10 minutes. Whereas mail/express trains will complete this journey in 3 hours 20 minutes. It is not clear yet whether train operations from Delhi to Srinagar will also start soon or not.

According to the timetable, Vande Bharat will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar at 11:20 am. The train will start its return journey from Srinagar at 12:45 pm and reach SDVK at 3:55 pm. The other two trains will also make round trips daily.

Trains will run without interruption even in winter

The railways have modified one Vande Bharat train and five other fully air-conditioned trains to suit the climatic conditions of the valley. The specialty of these trains is that they will be able to run seamlessly, especially during the winter months.

Vistadome will also continue

A railway official said, ‘Currently six trains are running in the valley. These trains also include a Vistadome. All these trains will also continue to run. Apart from these, Vande Bharat and two other trains have been added.’

Ministry created Jammu Railway Division

Meanwhile, to strengthen rail operations in the region, the ministry has created a new Jammu Rail Division and PM Modi will lay its foundation stone on Monday. In another development, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video of the newly built sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train. The video shows the train undergoing speed testing, with the train running at a speed of 180 kmph.

The railways said in a statement that the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has achieved the maximum speed in several of its trials over the last three days. The trials will continue till the end of this month before this world-class long-distance travel becomes available to rail passengers across the country, the Railway Ministry said.
