Indian Railways: Indian Railways is going to start India’s 18th Vande Bharat Express train on 29th May. The new train is about to start between New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati.
With the launch of this train, Northeast India will get its first semi-high-speed train. Apart from this, this will be the third Vande Bharat Express to operate in West Bengal. Covering a distance of about 410 km between the two cities, the train will be functional in the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone.
The New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities. Currently the fastest train between the two cities covers the distance in about 7 hours. However, the upgraded train will cover the distance in approximately 6 hours.
This six-day-a-week train is expected to start its journey at 6:10 am and reach the destination around 12 noon. For its return journey, the train will depart Guwahati at 4:40 PM and reach New Jalpaiguri at approximately 10:20 PM.
Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express will connect six stations during its journey, including New-Jalpaiguri and Guwahati Junction, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya.
There are 17 operational Vande Bharat Express trains in India covering 21 states and union territories. These states include Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
Vande Bharat Express is a self-propelled train equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that provide a very comfortable traveling experience. It is being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.
