H-1B Visa: Donald Trump is going to take oath on January 20, but even before that he has made policies and announcements regarding his tenure. This includes many issues including visa policy, issues of immigrants, ongoing wars in the world.
Trump has always been an advocate of increasing employment for Americans and limiting the scope of H-1B visa. In such a situation, it is believed that as soon as Trump takes office, he will tighten the H-1B visa policies, which will make it difficult for people from various countries including Indians to work and live in America. Sensing this, companies have already started cancelling job offers of people. While through this visa program, foreign skilled workers can work in American companies, but a debate has started on this policy among Trump supporters.
Sword hanging over education and job
There is an atmosphere of uncertainty among Indians about job offers being cancelled and studying in the US. Trump’s visa policy can shatter the dreams of many people because the H-1B visa program is the largest temporary work visa for foreigners in the US. It allows employers to hire foreign workers on the basis of “merit and ability”.
Americans are angry with the increase in immigration
Actually, immigration in America has increased rapidly. Many American citizens are not happy with the increasing population of immigrants in America. Since Trump gives more importance to making America great and the demands of the people there, he will give priority to making policies according to the local people.
Trump has promised in his election campaign to implement a strict immigration policy and to hire more Americans. This has created the most problems for Indians because Indians constitute the highest number of H-1B visa holders in the US (72%).
The dream of studying in America is in limbo
What decision will Trump take on H-1B visa and how strict will he make it, what will be his policy for students? These are the questions that have become a cause of great tension for students dreaming of studying in America. They do not know whether they will be able to get H-1B visa to study in America or not. Currently more than 2.5 lakh Indian students are studying in America.
If we talk about the employed people, then the maximum number of Indians are in the IT sector. The strictness regarding H-1B visa will not only create problems for those going to America but also for the workers already living there. There will be a risk of losing their jobs due to the strict policies of H-1B visa.
Job offer cancelled
According to TOI, there are many people who were offered jobs on-site by the companies, i.e. to go to America and work, but now they have suddenly cancelled it. Although the company has not told the Trump administration the reason behind cancelling the job offer, it is related to it.
Let us tell you that Trump’s close friend and Tesla owner Elon Musk has been in favour of giving jobs on the basis of talent. He had recently posted on X regarding this. But obviously the final decision has to be taken by Donald Trump as President.
