UPI Service in Maldives: UPI is making its mark not only in the country but also abroad. Many countries of the world are using India’s digital payment system UPI. Now UPI will make its mark in Maldives as well.
Maldives, which once used to challenge India, has now come on line. Now you will be able to make payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in Maldives as well. In fact, President Mohamed Muizzu has decided to launch India’s UPI system in Maldives on Sunday (20 October). Many countries are already using the UPI system developed in India.
Recently, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar was on a visit to Maldives. During that visit, Maldives agreed to adopt India’s most successful digital technology UPI. India and Maldives signed an agreement to launch UPI.
What is UPI?
Let us tell you that UPI is a real time payment system. For digital payment, a facility like UPI allows you to transfer money easily from home. For this, you need UPI supporting apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Bhim, GooglePay etc. The special thing is that UPI allows you to transfer money even if you have only one information like scanner, mobile number, UPI ID.

UPI facility was started in India in the year 2016.
UPI payment system was started in the year 2016. The UPI system is operated by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI).
