Aadhaar Card Rules

Now changing the address in Aadhaar card has become very easy for such people, who do not have any valid documents of that place. Aadhaar card holders can now update their address online with the consent of the Head of the Family (HOF). Aadhaar holders can now change their address online with the consent of the head of their household, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said on Tuesday.

Will be helpful for

The HOF-based online address update in Aadhaar will be of great help to the relatives (children), spouse, parents etc. of a resident who do not have supporting documents in their own name to update the address in their Aadhaar. With people moving to cities and towns within the country for various reasons, such a facility would be beneficial for lakhs of people.

New feature addition

The new option to update address is in addition to the existing address update facility using any valid proof of address prescribed by UIDAI. Any resident above the age of 18 years can be a HOF for this purpose and can share his/her address with his/her relatives through this process.

Have to pay the fee

Residents will have to pay a fee of ₹50 for the service. On successful payment, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be shared with the resident and an SMS will be sent to the HOF regarding the address request. The HOF has to accept the request and give its consent by logging into the MyAadhaar portal within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notification. After this the request will be processed.

Application can also be canceled like this

If the HOF refuses to share his or her address or does not accept or reject within the prescribed 30 days of SRN generation, the request will be closed. The resident, who wishes to update the address through this option, will be informed about the closure of the request through an SMS. If the request is closed or rejected due to rejection of the HOF or rejected during processing, the amount will not be refunded to the applicant.
