Udan Scheme 2025: While presenting her eighth consecutive budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a big announcement on the Udan scheme. The Finance Minister said that now 120 new cities will be added to the Udan scheme. Under the scheme, 120 new airports will be built in the next ten years. This will develop the capacity of 4 crore additional passengers.

The Finance Minister said that inspired by the success of Udaan, a revised scheme will be launched. This scheme will also change the face of helipads and small airports in hilly, aspiring and northeastern regional districts.

What is the flight plan

On October 21, 2016, the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN, or “Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik” was launched. Under the scheme, places in India that do not have air service are to be connected with air connectivity. The concept of UDAN is linked to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi . PM Modi had publicly said that he wants to see people wearing slippers boarding airplanes.

Increased demand for aircraft

The expansion of the scheme has led to a demand for new aircraft of all sizes. The number of aircraft on routes under the scheme has increased. These include aircraft such as Airbus 320/321, Boeing 737, ATR 42 and 72, DHC Q400, Twin Otter, Embraer 145 and 175, Tecnam P2006T, Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, Dornier 228, Airbus H130 and Bell 407.
