The Transport Department has directed to update the mobile number registered in the Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving License (DL) by March 31. This mobile number should be linked to Aadhaar. After March 31, the department will charge a fine if the Aadhaar linked mobile number is not updated. Even then, if the mobile number is not updated, the vehicle’s registration number will be cancelled.
It has been told that insurance, pollution and fitness certificates of vehicles of those whose mobile number is not updated on RC will not be issued. Under this decision, necessary changes will be made in the vehicle software so that pollution and fitness certificates can be issued only after the mobile number is updated.
