If this question also comes in your mind, then know that both road tax and toll tax are different. Road tax is levied by the RTO when you use different roads in the same state. Whereas toll tax is charged for using the Inter State Highway.

NHAI has also provided the facility to pay toll tax easily and quickly by using technology. Its name is FASTag, it is fixed on the inside of the glass of the vehicle. With this, the toll amount is directly taken from the vehicle owner’s account and he is allowed to cross the toll without waiting.

How is the rate of toll tax decided?

The rate of toll tax depends on many factors. This includes the purchase price of the vehicle, engine capacity, seating capacity, etc. Further, the rate of toll tax to be charged varies irrespective of whether the distance of the highway is more or less than 60 km. In the month of April this year, the government had increased the rates of toll tax. Accordingly, the toll tax for light vehicles has been increased by Rs 10 and for heavy vehicles by Rs 65.
