Nitin Gadkari on Toll Tax: Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that before 2024, 26 green expressways will be ready in the country and India will be at par with America in terms of roads. Along with this, the Union Minister said that in the coming days, emphasis will also be given on the use of technology for collecting toll tax. He said that till now there is no provision of punishment for not paying toll, but there is a preparation to bring a bill regarding toll.

India’s roads will also be like America
Actually, Nitin Gadkari gave this information while answering supplementary questions during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha. He said that 26 green expressways will be started in the country before 2024, due to which India will be at par with America in terms of roads. He said that with the construction of roads, the distance between many cities will be reduced.
Now this is the rule
Nitin Gadkari said that at present, if a person covers a distance of even 10 km on the toll road, then he has to pay a fee of 75 km, but in the new system only the distance covered will be charged. He denied that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was going through a financial crisis. He said that the condition of NHAI is absolutely fine and it has no shortage of money. He said that in the past two banks had offered loans at low rates.
