The Bangalore-Mysuru Expressway built in Karnataka will reduce the travel time between the two cities by half. This expressway is a part of the Greenfield Corridor project.
Although, this expressway has not been officially inaugurated yet, but a part of it has been opened for traffic. Vehicles on the expressway will be able to go for free only today. Toll tax (Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Toll) will be applicable on it from tomorrow i.e. 28 February. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this expressway on 11 March.
Toll tax collection will start from 8 am tomorrow on the Nidghatta section of the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway. Toll will be collected from Kaniminike and Sheshagnihal toll plazas. Toll tax ranging from Rs 135 to Rs 880 (Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Toll charges) will be charged for single journey. The decision to levy the toll was taken on Sunday after a meeting between officials of the National Highway Authority of India and the deputy commissioner of Ramanagara district. It now takes about 3 hours to cover the distance of 143 km between the two cities.
135 for single journey of car/jeep/van and Rs.205 for return journey on the same day. At the same time, Rs 4,525 will have to be paid for the monthly pass. LCV/LGV/mini bus drivers will have to pay Rs 220 and Rs 330 as toll tax for single journey. Truck/bus (2 axles) will have to pay Rs 460 and Rs 690. 3-axle commercial vehicles will have to pay Rs 500 and Rs 750.
Local residents will get relief
Local residents have been given some exemption in toll tax. Cars, jeeps and vans registered in the district will have to pay Rs 70 for a single journey. Similarly, Rs 110 for mini bus, Rs 230 for LACV and LGV will have to be paid as toll tax. At the same time, Rs 250 will have to be paid as toll for 3-axle vehicles.
Many cities will benefit.
Bengaluru is the economic capital of Karnataka, while Mysuru is the cultural capital. Apart from these two big cities, this highway will also connect Mangalore, Kodagu and parts of Kerala with Bengaluru. The entire highway has been designed as a complete access-control facility, with service roads built on both sides of the entire highway.
