Toll Tax Exemptions: Sometimes you might have seen a vehicle speeding out without paying toll tax. In such a situation, you might be wondering which vehicles do not have to pay toll tax. After all, who does not have to pay toll tax? For this, the Transport Ministry has issued a list regarding this. In which about 25 people are involved. Those who do not have to pay toll tax.
Let us tell you that keeping in mind the safety of vehicles, toll tax is used for the construction of roads. It is under the control of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Fastag has been introduced by the Government of India to collect toll, which is a cashless toll travel payment process.
According to Rule 11 of the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, toll cannot be collected from these vehicles –
Toll cannot be collected from any mechanical vehicle on national highways. Apart from this, toll tax cannot be collected even during the travel of people holding important positions in the country. Toll tax is not collected from the following people.
- President of India
- Vice President of India
- prime minister of India
- governor of a state
- Chief Justice of India
- Speaker of the Lok Sabha
- Union Cabinet Minister
- chief minister of a state
- supreme court judge
- Union Minister of State
- Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory
- A chief of staff holding the rank of full general or equivalent
- Speaker of the Legislative Council of a State
- Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of a State
- Chief Justice of High Court
- High Court Judge
- member of parliament
- Army Commander Vice Army Chief and equivalent in other services
- Chief Secretary to the State Government within the concerned State
- Secretary to the Government of India
- Secretary, State Council
- Secretary, Lok Sabha
- Foreign dignitaries on state visits
- A member of the Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council of a State if he shows his identity card issued by the concerned State
- Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra awardees, if the award recipient shows his/her attested photo identity card.
