Toll Tax Exemption Rules: There are many toll plazas in every state of India. Currently, there are about 1063 toll plazas across the country. And there is a continuous increase in these.
If we talk about the last 5 years, then more than 400 toll plazas have been built. Anyone who goes from one state to another with his three-wheeler or four-wheeler.
He has to pay toll tax. Earlier, the charge had to be paid manually. But now with the help of Fastag, paying toll tax has become very easy. People holding certain posts do not have to pay toll tax. But do you know that these common people also get free entry at toll. Let us tell you. What is the rule regarding this?
These people do not have to pay toll
Crores of vehicles pass through toll plazas every day. Many rules have been made by the National Highway Authority of India for these. One of these rules is also about time. That is, if a vehicle stops at the toll plaza for more than a fixed time. Then it will not have to pay toll. This rule was brought by NHAI in the year 2021.
Under this rule, if any vehicle stops at the toll plaza for more than 10 seconds without paying toll, then it can pass through there for free. That means it will not have to pay toll. This rule is applicable for all common people. Those who have to wait for more than 10 seconds at the toll, they are made toll free.
Even those whose homes are nearby do not have to pay toll
The government has another rule regarding paying toll tax. People whose houses are near toll plazas are also exempted from paying toll. Because due to the toll pass, they will have to pass through the toll every day for work even if they do not want to. Therefore, according to the rules of NHAI, those whose house is at a distance of up to 20 km from the toll plaza are exempted from toll tax. However, you will also have to provide proof that your house is near the toll plaza. If there is no proof, then you will have to pay double the fine.
