Now people can soon get rid of the jam at the toll plaza. An attempt was made to speed up the traffic on the toll with the help of FASTag, but now with the help of GPS based toll collection, only the toll plazas will be eliminated. According to the report published in Mint, 2 people related to this matter have confirmed this.
Experts in the matter have said that some changes will also have to be made in the Motor Vehicle Act for the GPS-based toll system. This plan is being prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Sources say that the technology of GPS based toll is in India and it can also be started in a very short time but preference will be given to greenfield expressways and highways only.
How will the toll be deducted from GPS?
Under this technology, you have to fix a GPS device in your car. As soon as you bring the vehicle on the tolled highway, the calculation of toll will start and the money will be deducted according to the distance you have traveled on that road. This amount will be deducted directly from your bank account, so you will also have to give information about your bank account to the government. Also you have to register your vehicle under this system. With the help of GPS based toll system, the discount on toll to the local people may be stopped.
What will be the benefit?
If the GPS based toll system is implemented, then people will not have to pay fixed charges, but they will have to pay the same amount as far as they have traveled. This will also get rid of the problem of jams near toll plazas. Along with this, the cases of violence coming to the toll plaza every day will also end.
