Toll plazas new rules- India is preparing to collect toll through ANPR cameras at toll plazas. This will ensure faster automatic toll payment and curb fraud.

There is going to be a radical change in the way toll fee is collected at toll plazas in the country. For this, automatic number plate recognition cameras i.e. ANPR cameras will be installed at toll plazas. With their help, toll tax will be deducted from the number plate of the vehicle instead of Fastag.

The work of installing the new system has also started at one toll each in Hisar and Rohtak districts of Haryana. After about two months, toll tax will start being deducted from the number plate of the vehicle at both these toll nakas. One advantage of this will also be that if a fake number plate is installed on the vehicle, then that too will be caught.

After the trial at these two toll plazas is successful, it will be implemented first in Haryana and then in other states of the country. Toll companies believe that this will stop fraud at toll plazas. When the new system is implemented, the vehicle’s number plate will also be linked to the bank account linked to Fastag so that as soon as the vehicle reaches the toll, the camera recognizes the number plate and deducts the toll tax.

This is the ANPR system

Automatic number plate recognition based scanning cameras and new computer systems are being installed at Ramayan Toll Plaza in Hisar and Rohtak Toll. These cameras recognize the number plates and make them digital. The special thing about these cameras is that these cameras will be very powerful and will scan the plate instantly.

The vehicle number and model will also be visible on the screen.

As soon as the vehicle comes near the toll, a red light will be lit. The vehicle will stand there until the operator turns the light green. Along with this, the vehicle number and model of the vehicle stopped to pay the toll will also be written on the screen. If the driver’s fastag is not working, then as soon as the number plate is scanned, a message will be sent to the toll company from the bank’s server. It will also tell whether this fastag is original or not.

HSRP contains complete details.

Now in India, vehicles are fitted with high-security registration plates i.e. HSRP. All the information related to the vehicle is available from such number plates. The government has started installing these special number plates in 2019 itself. The government then asked all passenger vehicles to install company fitted number plates.
