A big and positive news has come out for the people traveling in Mumbai. The Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra has decided to give complete exemption to light vehicles from toll tax while entering the city. This decision has been taken just before the assembly elections, due to which it is being considered a step to attract voters.
Details of the new order
This new order will come into effect from 12 o’clock tonight. This means that from tonight, light vehicles entering Mumbai, such as scooters, bikes, cars, auto rickshaws and minibuses, will no longer pay toll fee. Earlier, a fee of Rs 45 was charged for light vehicles at these toll plazas, which will now end.
Information about toll plazas in Mumbai
There are a total of five major toll plazas in Mumbai, from where light vehicles had to pay toll fee.
These toll plazas are:
1. Dahisar Toll: It is located on the northern edge of Mumbai and is a major point of entry into the city.
2. Mulund (LBS Marg) Toll: It is located in the Mulund area and has access from both the western and eastern suburbs.
3. Mulund (Eastern Express Highway) Toll: It is located on the major Eastern Express Highway, which connects the eastern part of Mumbai.

Toll fees for light vehicles will now be abolished at all these toll plazas, providing financial relief to commuters.

This decision is considered very important as the assembly elections are near. The election dates can be announced by the Election Commission at any time, and in such a situation, this move of the Shinde government is also being understood from a political point of view. Many analysts believe that this decision has been taken to woo the vote bank, so that the government gets support in the election environment.

The meeting was held at Sahyadri Guest House, which was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar and other ministers.
