The Modi government has increased Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 4 percent. Government employees are going to celebrate Diwali before Diwali. The salary of central government employees will increase before Diwali and festive season. Now they will get DA at the rate of 38 per cent. Earlier this rate was 34 percent. Now they will get dearness allowance of 38 per cent of the basic pay. This decision of the government will benefit 48 lakh central government employees and 68 lakh pensioners.

The increased DA of government employees is considered to be applicable from July 1, 2022. That is, government employees will get an increased DA for two months in July and August. You will get this much DA and arrears
The hike in DA will increase the dearness portion of the salaries of central government employees. For example if someone’s salary is Rs 50,000 per month and basic salary is Rs 15,000. Till now you get Rs 5,100, which is 34 per cent of the basic salary. However, now after the increase of 4 per cent, you will get Rs 5,700 per month, which is Rs 600 more. If you have a salary of Rs 50,000 per month with Rs 15,000 as basic salary, your salary will increase by Rs 600 per month. Along with this, you will also get two months arrears i.e. Rs 1,200 in salary. The government has said that on account of both DA and DR, the exchequer will increase by Rs 12,852.56 crore annually.
