Mobile Connection Rules: The Telecom Ministry has changed the rules for purchasing a new mobile connection from January 1, 2024. With this, it has now become easier for customers to buy a new SIM card.

To promote digitalization in the country, the Department of Telecommunications (Telecom Ministry) has informed that now there will be a complete ban on paper based KYC for getting a new SIM card. In such a situation, now customers will have to submit only digital or e-KYC to get a new SIM card.

DoT issued notification-

The Telecom Department of the Ministry of Communications has issued a notification on Tuesday informing that there are going to be major changes in the rules for purchasing SIM cards from the new year i.e. January 1, 2024. Now any customer will be required to do e-KYC to get a SIM card and now paper based KYC will be completely stopped.

Apart from this, it has also been told that the rest of the rules for getting a new mobile connection are going to remain the same and no changes have been made in it. It is worth noting that earlier to get a SIM card, you could do paper based KYC along with e-KYC, but now it will be completely stopped from January 1.

There has been a change in the rules of SIM card from December 1, 2023

Before this, the Telecom Ministry has changed another rule related to SIM card. By changing the rules, the Central Government has implemented the rule of issuing limited number of SIMs on one ID from December 1. Before getting a SIM card, it is necessary to complete the KYC process and now along with the SIM buyer, the SIM seller will also be registered. If a person buys multiple SIM cards at once, he can buy it only through a commercial connection.
