When the government’s treasury became empty in fulfilling these promises, now they have again started collecting money from the public. The state government recently issued an order in which it has been said that people will have to pay additional fees on sewerage connection according to the number of toilet seats in their homes. This system has also been implemented from October 1. This means that if you have 2 toilet seats in your house, then now you will have to pay 50 rupees extra every month.

Citing a media report, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wrote on Twitter (X), ‘If this order of the Himachal Pradesh government is true, then it is hard to believe. Our Prime Minister Modi ji started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with the people for their convenience. Here the Congress is imposing a tax on people for toilets. It is shameful. The Congress government could not provide a clean environment to the people during its tenure and this step is shameful for the country.’

What did the Jal Shakti Department say?
On the other hand, the Jal Shakti Department of the state government has denied issuing any such notification. The department said, our aim is to achieve 100 percent connectivity so that pollution can be reduced and sewerage facilities can be made available. The recently issued notification is only about water charges. However, let us tell you that in the recent notification of the Jal Shakti Department, it is clearly written that Rs 25 will have to be paid per toilet seat.
The government is stuck in a financial crisis.
Let us tell you that the Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh is facing a severe financial crisis at this time. The situation was such that last month the government could not even provide salary to its employees and pensioners on time. After this, pollution tax was also imposed and now there is talk of imposing tax on toilets to fill the treasury.
