Asaram Bapu, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case, got relief from the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The country’s Supreme Court has allowed him to come out on medical grounds. However, during this time he will have to follow strict bail conditions. Asaram cannot meet anyone during his bail. Asaram has been allowed to come out of jail till March 31.
Asaram was convicted in two cases. According to the case filed in the Jodhpur court, Asaram was arrested by the Jodhpur police from his ashram in Indore in 2013. Since then, Asaram was in jail. After a long trial of five years, the court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment on 25 April 2018. Apart from this, the second case is from the Gandhinagar court in Gujarat.
A rape case was registered against Asaram by a woman from the ashram in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. On January 31, 2023, the court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in this case.
