So that more and more needy people can get the benefit of government schemes. Often parents are worried about the future of their daughters. Therefore, the government has started Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
By investing in this scheme, parents can accumulate a good amount of funds for their daughters. The government started this scheme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. But now there have been some changes in the rules of this scheme. Now the accounts of these girls can be closed. Know what this new rule is.
If the account is not in the name of the legal guardian then it will be closed
New rules have been issued regarding Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. Now if a girl’s account in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has been opened by her maternal grandparents or any other relative, then such accounts will have to be transferred to the name of the legal guardian. Otherwise such accounts will be closed. Apart from this, there is also a rule in the scheme that if someone opens two accounts in the name of the same daughter, then one of those accounts will also be closed.
This much interest is available in Sukanya Yojana
Parents can create a good fund for their daughters by opening their accounts under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. A deposit of Rs 250 can be made annually in the scheme up to Rs 1.5 lakh. The account matures when the daughter turns 21 years old. But if the daughter turns 18, up to 50 percent of the amount deposited in the scheme can be withdrawn.
How to open an account?
To open a Sukanya Samriddhi account, you can go to any post office or your bank branch. This account can be opened from the birth of the daughter till she turns 10 years old. Some documents are required to open an account in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. These include proof of identity and address of the guardian, birth certificate of the girl, PAN card of the guardian.
