All schools, colleges, banks, and government offices will remain closed on October 5 in Haryana. A public holiday has been declared in the state in view of the assembly elections.

On this day, people will exercise their franchise during voting on 90 assembly seats in Haryana, and the counting of votes will take place on October 8.

Haryana’s neighbouring state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also took an important decision, saying that Punjab government employees registered as voters in Haryana will be given a holiday on October 5. This holiday will not be deducted from the annual leaves of the employees, allowing them to participate in the voting without any deduction.

The decision is aimed at encouraging employees to participate in voting and strengthen the democratic process.

According to an order by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, keeping in mind the Haryana Assembly elections, the Punjab government has declared a special holiday on October 5. If any officer or employee is registered in the voter list of Haryana Assembly and is employed in government, educational institutions, offices, boards, and corporations of the state of Punjab, he can take special leave on October 5 by showing his voter ID card. And as October 6 is a Sunday weekly holiday, employees will get two consecutive days off.

This initiative ensures that employees can exercise their voting rights without suffering the loss of absence from work.
