SIM Card Block: 2.36 lakh SIM cards were blocked in this state of India, did you come under the radar?

SIM Card Block In the “Operation Antivirus” run in the Mewat region of the state to curb cyber crime, Rajasthan Police, in coordination with the Government of India and the Department of Telecommunications, has blocked 2.36 lakh suspicious SIMs and 2.29 lakh IMEI numbers.

At the same time, in the special campaign conducted for the search of lost mobiles in July-August 2024 across the state, more than 5000 stolen and lost mobiles have been traced and returned to the holders.

SIM Card Block Director General of Police (DGP) Cyber ​​Crime & SCRB Hemant Priyadarshi said that taking the rising cyber crime in the state as a challenge, Rajasthan Police has taken effective action against cyber criminals by identifying them on the basis of database under ‘Operation Antivirus’ in the Mewat area. He said that as a result of this, a huge reduction in cyber crime has been registered in the Mewat area. He said that about 5-6 months ago, 18% of the country’s cyber crimes were happening in the Mewat region, which has now reduced to just 5%.

DGP (Cyber ​​Crime) Priyadarshi said that by taking effective action in Operation Anti Virus in Mewat area, not only the criminals have been arrested and sent to jail, but cases have been registered against them under serious sections. Due to this, most of the accused have not got bail from the court. Apart from this, the police has identified around 2.36 lakh suspicious SIMs and around 2.29 lakh mobile handsets with suspicious IMEI and got them blocked by contacting the Department of Communication of the Government of India, due to which cyber crime has decreased.

DGP Priyadarshi said that all the district police superintendents were instructed to run a campaign in relation to the complaints lodged by the general public about mobile theft or loss. In the last two months, more than 5000 lost mobiles have been traced across the state, most of the mobiles have been returned to their holders through the district superintendents of police, the process of returning the remaining mobiles is also underway.

DG Cyber ​​Crime Priyadarshi told that the data of stolen, lost and suspicious mobiles is available on the Government of India portal www.ceir.gov.in. When a person tries to use these mobiles by inserting a new SIM, his location is sent to the nearest police station as an ‘alert’. He advised the general public that in case of mobile theft or loss, they should report it to the nearest police station or register an online complaint on the Rajasthan Police portal. After this action, the details of the complaint must be registered on this portal of the Government of India. He told that after the success of tracing a large number of lost mobiles in the state in the months of July-August, this process will be continued in future as well.
