Additional District Magistrate Sangrur Amit Bamby has issued orders to keep meat, fish and egg shops, pheri walas, non-vegetarian hotels, dhabas and eateries closed in Sangrur district on April 10 (Thursday), exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BCSC), 2023.
Additional District Magistrate Sangrur Amit Bamby has issued orders to keep meat, fish and egg shops, pheri walas, non-vegetarian hotels, dhabas and eateries closed in Sangrur district on April 10 (Thursday), exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BCSC), 2023.
The order states that the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir Swami Ji, the 24th Trithankara of Jainism, is being celebrated as Ahimsa Diwas on 10 April 2025. According to religious traditions, killing any living being on the day of Mahavir Jayanti is considered inauspicious. Killing any living being on this day can hurt the religious sentiments of the people and anti-social elements can take advantage of this situation.
These orders have been implemented with the aim of maintaining peace and law and order. The district administration has made it clear that strict action will be taken against those who violate this order. The police administration and the concerned departments have been instructed to ensure strict compliance of these orders.
