Schools timing changed- Due to dense fog and cold, the timings of all government/government aided and private schools in Chandigarh have been changed. The Director School Education has given information about the change in the timings of the schools in a press release.
Accordingly, the timings of government schools/government aided schools have been changed from January 13 to January 18. Single shift schools: All classes will be held from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Whereas double shift schools: Classes 1 to 5 – from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, classes above 6 – from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Private schools will operate from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission Chairman Kanwardeep Singh has recommended the Punjab School Education Department to change the timings of government and private schools for the convenience of school children, keeping in mind the harsh winter and dense fog.
Giving more information in this regard, Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission Chairman Kanwardeep Singh said that due to severe cold and dense fog in the state, school going children are facing great difficulties. Apart from this, due to extreme cold, small children are avoiding coming to school. He has recommended the Punjab School Education Department to extend the opening time of government and private schools to 10 am till January 31 for the convenience of school children.
He also said that there have been incidents of school buses getting into accidents due to dense fog for the last two days. The commission has taken this decision to avoid any such untoward incident.
