This festival is celebrated for a full 4 days. Many states have declared holidays on this occasion. Which includes states like Delhi, UP, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Let us tell you that the great festival of faith Chhath starts every year from the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. It is celebrated till Saptami Tithi. Chhath Puja has special religious significance. Women keep this difficult fast for the prosperity of the house and the safety of their children. It is also known by names like Surya Shashthi, Chhath, Chhathi and Daala Chhath.

Holidays for Chhath Puja declared in these states

Delhi CM Atishi on Friday declared November 7 as a public holiday on the occasion of Chhath Puja 2024. In the official announcement, CM Atishi said that the Delhi government has decided to declare November 7 as a holiday for Chhath Puja. So that the people of Purvanchal can celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm. To celebrate Chhath festival, all government departments apart from schools will remain closed in New Delhi on November 7.

Bihar and Jharkhand

On the occasion of Chhath Puja, the Bihar government has declared a holiday for 4 days. Schools will remain closed during this period. According to media reports, the state government has declared a school holiday from 6 November to 9 November. Let us tell you that in most of the places where Chhath Puja is celebrated in Bihar and Jharkhand, there will be a holiday. However, no official information has been revealed about the holidays by the Jharkhand government yet.

Uttar Pradesh

Most schools are expected to remain closed on November 7 on the occasion of Chhath Puja. So far, there has been no official announcement from the state government regarding school holiday in UP on this day.
