Schools closed- The cold weather continues across the country. The entire North India is grappling with severe cold. Along with snowfall on the mountains, there is also rain. Due to two western disturbances formed in Jammu and Kashmir, the situation may worsen due to rain in North India. Along with this, there is a possibility of rain in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi NCR in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Education Department has changed the timings of schools and has decided to keep schools up to class 8 closed till January 11. In this regard, only online classes will be held in schools. Schools have been asked to hold online classes only after 9 am and to call the school staff accordingly.

Apart from this, schools for classes IX to XII have been asked to open only after 9:30 am and the dismissal for these classes has been asked to be done before 3:30 pm. These orders were issued today by Director School Education Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar. According to information, the cold is continuously increasing in Chandigarh and there has been a lot of fog for the last several days, due to which the UT Education Department has issued orders for all government, government-aided and private schools in the city.

Meanwhile, meteorologists have predicted a change in the weather in the city from the afternoon of January 5. Meteorologists say that there may be intermittent light rain from the afternoon of January 5 to the afternoon of January 6. Dense fog had started falling in the City Beautiful since Friday night, which continued till 10-11 am today. After that, the sunshine gave some relief to the city residents from the bitter cold.
