School Holidays: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has announced holidays for all colleges across the state on the occasion of Sankranti. According to the official order issued by the board on January 7, all colleges will remain closed from January 11 (Saturday) to January 16 (Thursday). During this period, there will be no classes in the colleges, and the colleges will reopen on January 17 (Friday).
Holiday order applicable for all colleges
The BIE secretary has clearly stated that this order will be applicable to all colleges in the state, whether government, private, aided or unaided. These holidays will be availed by residential colleges, social welfare colleges, tribal welfare colleges, model schools, BC welfare colleges, junior colleges, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and all degree colleges that offer two-year intermediate courses.
Strict instructions to private colleges
The BIE secretary has specifically ordered the principals and college managements of private junior colleges not to run any classes during the holidays. They have been instructed to strictly follow this order, and warned that if any college management violates the order, strict action will be taken against them. This action can be up to cancellation of affiliation of the college.
This holiday has been declared to give students a cultural break on the occasion of Sankranti festival. Sankranti is a major festival in the state of Telangana, and during this period students will be able to be a part of traditional celebrations without any academic pressure. The board has given students the opportunity to use this time to participate in family gatherings and cultural activities.
