The Sikkim Government has decided to close 97 schools after the current session due to the small number of students. Education Minister Raju Basant said on Thursday that the schools that have been marked for closure include 78 primary, 12 junior high and seven senior secondary.
Basant said that at the end of the current session, the students of these institutions will be shifted to nearby functioning schools. The objective of this decision is to ensure better utilization of resources and enhance the quality of education.
