Diwali Holidays 2024 Date: Diwali is one of the most important festivals of India. Indians living abroad also celebrate it with pomp and show. It is considered a festival of lights.

On the special occasion of Diwali, there is a holiday in schools, colleges and other educational institutions and offices. Many states including UP, Bihar, Delhi have a holiday of 4-5 days on the occasion of Diwali. But there are some states in India itself, where there is a nominal holiday in schools.

When is Diwali this year (Diwali 2024 Date)? The confusion over the date of the festival is now over. Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October 2024 (Thursday). At the same time, some people are still insisting on celebrating the festival on 1 November (Friday). Apart from India, many other countries also declare holiday on Diwali. Diwali holiday is also specially mentioned in the school holiday calendar (Diwali 2024 School Holidays). Know in which states Diwali holiday has no significance.

Kerala and Himachal Pradesh

Diwali festival is celebrated prominently in North India. But it does not have much importance in some states of South India. Diwali is not celebrated in Kerala like states like UP, MP, Bihar, Delhi. Therefore, Diwali holiday in Kerala will be only for 1 day i.e. on 1 November. At the same time, there is no special holiday on Diwali in Himachal Pradesh too.

Uttarakhand

Schools will remain closed from 1st November to 3rd November in Uttarakhand. But due to change in the date of Diwali, this holiday can also be changed. According to the holiday calendar till now, no special holiday has been given on Diwali in Uttarakhand. In the schools here, holiday on 1st November has been declared for Diwali. 2nd and 3rd are Saturday-Sunday.

Jammu and Kashmir

There is no holiday on Diwali even in hilly areas like Jammu and Kashmir. The residents here give priority to their local traditions and festivals. Some people celebrate Diwali here too but they do not have the same enthusiasm as other states. There is no government holiday on Diwali in Jammu and Kashmir. If someone wants to take it on his own, it is a different matter.

Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh

In most North East states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, other festivals are more important than Diwali. In the high mountain areas of Meghalaya, local tribal cultures have their own characteristics. Therefore, there is no provision for holiday on Diwali. Most of the schools in these states remain closed on their traditional festivals.
