Due to continuous rain in Bengaluru, a holiday has been declared for Anganwadis and schools on Monday, 21 October 2024. The collector has taken this decision as a precaution keeping in mind the safety of the students. However, other degree, postgraduate, diploma, engineering and ITI courses will operate as usual.

Special instructions for colleges

Heads of colleges and concerned officials have been directed not to use weak or dilapidated buildings. Classes should be conducted only in safe and good condition buildings. Extra classes may be held on Saturday afternoons or Sundays to make up for the learning loss due to holidays. Students and their parents have been asked to ensure that they stay away from water-logging areas and use safe vehicles to commute to college.

IMD forecast and alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Bengaluru and 11 districts of Karnataka. Heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected in the city for the next two days. The temperature is expected to remain between a maximum of 26 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius. Along with this, a yellow alert has been issued for Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chitradurga, Davanagere and Tumkuru districts.
