Schools Closed: The weather in many states of North India, including Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, has changed suddenly. Dense clouds have covered many districts of Punjab and there may be rain.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the extension of holidays in schools. Last week, the Punjab government had extended the holidays in schools till January 7. Today is the last day of holidays in Punjab. There is talk that the state government may extend the holidays till the eighth standard. This may be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has taken a decision in this regard. In view of the increasing cold, winter vacations have been extended in various districts of the state. Schools will open only after Makar Sankranti in many districts including Jaipur, Kota, Bikaner. Orders to close schools have been issued in more than 20 districts of Rajasthan. Earlier, all schools in the state were to open on January 7, 2025, but now schools in different districts will open on different dates.
The winter vacations in Rajasthan were from December 25 to January 5. Then on Monday (January 6), a government holiday was declared in schools on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Gur Purb. After this, schools in Rajasthan were to open from today i.e. January 7, 2025, but before that, the order to extend the vacations came.
School Holidays in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Directorate of Secondary Education has issued instructions to the District Collectors regarding the extension of winter vacations. Due to extreme cold wave and winter, the District Collector may decide to extend the school vacations. Considering the weather forecast, the concerned District Collector may extend the vacation. The Collector of the concerned district may also issue orders to change the working hours of the school. Education Director Ashish Modi has sent orders to the officers of all the districts.
In Jaipur district, the holidays have been extended in schools from class 1 to 8 in view of the cold wave. On the instructions of the District Collector of Jaipur, the Chief District Education Officer has issued orders for all schools. All private and government schools here will remain closed on 7th and 8th January 2025. This order will be applicable to all government and non-government schools in Jaipur district.
Schools in Dholpur will remain closed till January 9, 2025. Kota Collector Ravinder Goswami has extended the school holidays from January 6 to January 9. Hanumangarh schools have announced holidays for classes 1 to 8 till January 11. Big news is coming from Bikaner. Winter holidays have been extended in schools here too. Schools in Bikaner will remain closed till January 11 for children studying in classes 1 to 8.
Bhilwara District Collector Namit Mehta has issued an order declaring a holiday for students of classes 1 to 8. All government and non-government schools here will remain closed on January 7 and January 8. Jhalawar District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore has also issued orders declaring holidays in schools in the district in view of winter and cold. Students of classes 1 to 8 here will have a holiday from January 7 to 11.
