School Holidays: In view of the cold wave, District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari has extended the holidays for schools up to class 12. Now CBSE, ICSE, secondary and all government and private schools will open on January 9.
Agra is colder than the hill cities due to the cold winds blowing after heavy snowfall in the mountains. In such a situation, giving a big relief to the school children, the district magistrate has declared holiday in schools up to class 12. According to District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari, due to cold wave, all schools from class 1 to 12 will remain closed till January 8. No school will open during fog and cold wave. The order will be applicable in CBSE, ICSE, secondary and all government and private schools. Action will be taken against the school management in case of violation. As such, all the schools in the district will remain closed from Sunday to Wednesday.
Agra was colder than Kullu, Manali and Mussoorie, mercury was 14.9 degrees.
The maximum temperature of hill towns like Kullu, Manali, Mussoorie, Dharamsala, Chamba etc. was higher than Agra. The sun remained hidden in a blanket of fog in Agra throughout the day, due to which the maximum temperature during the day was recorded at 14.9 degrees, which is 8 degrees below normal. Due to the fog, the visibility was zero till morning. According to the Weather Department, fog may prevail in the mornings for the next two days.
Visibility was zero
due to heavy fog on Saturday morning. Visibility remained zero in the morning. Due to lack of sunshine, the visibility was only up to 300 meters till noon. Due to fog at 5:30 in the evening, the visibility was only up to 200 meters, due to which the fog deepened in the evening as well. Due to lack of sunshine the cold winds kept people troubled. The mercury was recorded 8 degrees below normal at 14.9 degrees during the day. Along with Agra, the temperature in Meerut, Aligarh, Bahraich, Bareilly, Etawah and Sultanpur remained between 12 to 14 degrees.

There is a possibility of fog for two days, cold winds
will blow. There is no relief from cold in the first week of the new year. According to the weather forecast centre, fog may prevail in the morning for the next two days, while cold winds may blow. There is a possibility of a slight increase in the minimum temperature along with the maximum temperature.
