School closed:In view of the intense heat in Jharkhand, the state government has instructed to keep all types of schools from KG to 12th closed from June 12 to June 15.

June 16 is Sunday. From June 17, classes in schools will be conducted as per the pre-determined time. Nandkishore Lal, Joint Secretary of School Education and Literacy Department, issued its notification on Tuesday. In such a situation, all schools will remain closed for the next five days (12 to 16 June).

The weather department has issued a red alert for heat wave in the districts of Palamu and Kolhan from Wednesday to June 14. While in some districts, an orange alert has been issued during this period, a yellow alert has been issued in the rest of Jharkhand including Ranchi. On Tuesday, the temperature of 12 districts of the state including Ranchi crossed 42 degrees.

Heat wave kills five people in the state.

A teacher in Palamu, a middle-aged man in Hazaribagh and one in Tamar along with two people in Dumka died due to heat wave. Rampati Munda, who died in Dumka, belonged to Ranchi. He was a class IV employee in Shivpahar, Dumka. In Garhwa district, a student fell unconscious during the prayer meeting. In Garhwa district, a teacher also fell unconscious due to the heat.

The mercury crossed 45 degrees.

On Tuesday the temperature of 12 districts of the state including Ranchi crossed 42 degrees. Medininagar and Saraikela recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees. While Garhwa recorded 45.0 degrees. The maximum temperature of the capital Ranchi was recorded at 40.7 degrees. In Garhwa district a student fell unconscious during the prayer meeting. While in Garhwa district a teacher also fainted due to heat. According to the Meteorological Department the temperature in the state is five to seven degrees more than normal.

Ranchi Meteorological Department scientist Abhishek Anand said, due to severe heat in most of the districts of the state including Ranchi, a red alert has been issued in the districts of Kolhan and Palamu from 12 to 14 June. While orange alert will continue in some districts and yellow alert in the rest of Jharkhand. During this time, weather change and rain has been predicted in the rest of the state including Ranchi except Palamu and Kolhan.
