In this sequence, the government has fixed the minimum age of admission in class one in the state at six years. Detailed guidelines have been issued for this. In this session 2023-24, some relief has been given regarding this, but from next year it will be strictly taken.

In the instructions issued by the government, it has been said that the minimum age for admission in class one is fixed at six years. At present, students who have taken admission in class one and their age is between five to six years will be allowed to study in class one. In the enrollment after the issue of this order, it will be ensured that only those children are enrolled in class one who are completing six years of age by July 31.

Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education Department, Deepak Kumar has said that children currently studying in pre-school (Nursery, LKG, UKG) who will be less than six years old at the time of admission in class one, will also be enrolled in class one. Admission will be given, so that their studies are not affected. But, from next year this system will be mandatory for schools in pre-school. They have to fix the minimum age in such a way that no child can take admission in Class I below the age of six years. The same arrangement will be applicable for Anganwadi centers as well.

In this regard, Director General School Education Vijay Kiran Anand has issued a letter to all BSAs asking them to ensure compliance of this order. Please tell that in the new session 2023-24, admission enrollment in class one has started from April 1. This is the reason why this order has not been made binding in the new session.

They will also get relief

The Additional Chief Secretary has clarified that such children who are completing six years of age between April 1 and July 31 in the concerned academic session (for which admission process is going on), but can be given admission in April at the beginning of the session . They will be given relaxation in the period they complete six years in the meantime. The reason, the admission process for the new session starts from April 1 itself.
