Salary Hike: There is big news for the employees of Karnataka state. The Karnataka government on Thursday announced that it has announced a 20% hike in the salaries of the employees of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) in the state. The hike comes at a time when central government employees are waiting for a DA hike in their salaries.
Increase in salary of these employees
The state government has taken this decision after several discussions on the demand for wage revision. The government decided to increase the wages of KPTCL and ESCOM employees and those in the transport business. Giving information, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the transport business will get a salary hike of 15 percent.
Employees were demanding to increase salary
The employees of KPTCL and ESCOM have been demanding salary hike from the government for a long time. According to CM Bommai, talks were held between Power Minister V Sunil Kumar and the employees for two to three days. Bommai said that he has agreed to the revision of 20 per cent salary and orders will be issued soon.
Their salary will also increase
The Chief Minister claimed that the employees of the Transport Department were asking for a hike in their salaries as this had not happened in the last few years. He said that they have decided to increase their salary by 15 percent. Orders will be issued on this also. Karnataka government officials have said that this hike in salary will be applicable from April 1. Assembly elections are due in Karnataka this year.
