The Reserve Bank had announced the withdrawal of bank notes worth Rs 2000 from circulation on May 19, 2023. RBI said that the total value of Rs 2000 bank notes in circulation at the close of business on May 19, 2023 was Rs 3.56 lakh crore.

It has been almost two years since the two thousand rupee notes were banned. Even after that, RBI or rather the government has still not received all the notes. Less than two percent of 2000 rupee notes are still floating in the market. The surprising thing is that these two thousand rupee notes have no value left. In May 2023, the government had completely removed these notes from the system. Let us also tell you what kind of things have come out in the RBI report.
