RBI On Rs 2000 Note: Last year on May 19, 2023, when the Reserve Bank of India announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes from circulation, at that time a total of Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 3.56 lakh crore were in circulation in the market.

The Reserve Bank of India has given a big update regarding the 2000 note. RBI said on Wednesday that 98.12 percent of 2000 rupee notes have returned to the banking system. However, such notes worth Rs 6,691 crore are still with the public. On May 19, 2023, RBI had announced that Rs 2000 notes are being taken out of circulation.

The total value of Rs 2000 notes on 19 May 2023 was approximately Rs 3.56 lakh crore. This has come down to just Rs 6,691 crore by 31 December 2024. This means that 98.12 percent of the total 2000 notes have returned to the banking system. From 19 May 2023 to 7 October 2023, 2000 rupee notes could be deposited or exchanged at any bank branch.

Notes can be deposited

After this, this facility is still available in 19 offices of RBI. From 9 October 2023, people can deposit 2000 rupee notes in RBI offices. Apart from this, people can also send these notes through India Post. So that the notes can be deposited in RBI offices. Also, it can be deposited in their account.

You can deposit notes in these cities

2000 rupee notes are still valid. Meaning they can be used. There are 19 RBI offices in India to deposit or exchange 2000 rupee notes. These are located in different cities. These include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
