RBI list of important local banks not changed
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday released the list of systemically important local banks for 2022. This list remains the same as last year as RBI has not changed the banks included in the list. Therefore SBI ( State Bank of India ), ICICI Bank ( ICICI Bank ), HDFC Bank ( HDFC Bank ) remain domestic systemically important banks.
RBI had brought the framework in 2014
The Reserve Bank of India on Monday said that State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank will continue to be recognized as domestic systemically important banks (D-SIBs). The central bank had issued a framework for dealing with D-SIBs in July 2014. Under this, the names of banks are disclosed and they are placed in appropriate buckets on the basis of Systemic Importance Scores (SISs).
SBI has maintained its position in the list since 2015. In 2015, RBI declared SBI as a Domestic Systemically Important Bank (D-SIB). After this, in 2016, ICICI Bank was declared as D-SIB. Whereas, HDFC Bank was added to the list on 31 March 2017. These three banks have retained their names in the list for 2022 as well.
