Currently 10 lakh people have been identified
In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar alone, the names of about 10 lakh ineligible cardholders have been marked. According to media reports, the ration cards of all those who are ineligible and still avail the benefit of free ration will be canceled by the government. It is being investigated across the country.
Who will not get free ration?
According to the information received from NFSA, any cardholder who pays income tax or otherwise is not eligible to get free ration. All these people will not get the benefit of free ration facility. According to government information, those people who have more than 10 bighas of land will not get the benefit of free ration.
Ration cards will be canceled
Apart from this, people who are running good business. That means they are earning more than Rs 3 lakh every year. These people will also not get the benefit of government ration. Preparations are being made to cancel the cards of all such ineligible ration card holders who are taking advantage of the free ration facility.
The scheme was started during the Corona period
During the Corona period, the government had started free ration facility to help the poor. To ensure that no person sleeps hungry, the government had started the facility of free ration. About 80 crore people across the country are taking advantage of the free ration facility. At present, the government has extended the date of free ration to 31 December 2023, but it is expected that it can be extended further.
