Ration Card Rules: In the month of May, the news of ration card holders surrendering their cards in Uttar Pradesh became very viral on social media. In this it was being claimed that ineligible ration card holders have to surrender the ration card by going to the tehsil. Otherwise, the government will cancel their cards and recover the ration received so far. However, later clarification was given on this by the government and it was told that the UP government has not made any such rule.

Due to this new ration cards cannot be made, but now the UP government has started the cancellation program of ration cards in the state. According to the order issued by the UP government, the names of the ineligible people will be deducted from the list of ration cards and now only the needy will get the benefit of free ration. It has already started from different districts of UP. In fact, according to the 2011 census, the government’s target of making ration cards has been fulfilled. In such a situation, new ration cards cannot be made.

Urban population has doubled in 2022 as compared to 2011 . In place of the canceled ineligible people’s cards, the new needy are being given the benefit of the ration scheme. Names are being added to the national food security on the basis of the 2011 population ratio. Let us tell you that the population of the city has doubled in 2022 as compared to 2011.

Census not conducted in 2021 due to Corona Census 2021 could not be done due to increase in Corona cases. In this situation, it has become necessary to increase the population ratio for national food security. On the basis of this, the urban poor will get the benefit of the scheme. In such a situation, the new ration card applications coming to the district supply office and tehsil level supply office of the state are submitted. After that, on the basis of investigation, the ration cards of the ineligible are canceled and the ration cards of the eligible are made in their place.

For this the ineligible have to wait for months. Departmental sources say that preparations are on to increase the target of 2011 on the basis of population growth. Therefore, the work of making new ration cards has been stopped.
