According to the information given by Union Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, it is being implemented from April 20 in many districts of Rajasthan. While giving the information, PM Modi had told that nutritious items will be distributed through government schemes. For this reason, the government has decided to distribute fortified rice.
The problem of anemia will go away in women
Let us tell you that this decision of the Central Government will solve the problem of anemia in children and women. Along with this, the scheme for distribution of fortified rice containing micronutrients in a phased manner was started in October 2021.
Very good initiative by the central government
According to the information received from Union Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, the state government is successfully distributing fortified rice for the last two phases. This is a very good initiative of the Central Government. It is being appreciated a lot. Good results have been seen in its last 2 years.
The production of fortified rice in the country is 17 lakh tonnes.
The Food Secretary told, ‘So far we have started distribution of fortified rice through PDS (ration shop) in 269 districts. The pace at which we are progressing, the remaining districts will be covered before the stipulated time frame. He said that there are about 735 districts in the country, out of which more than 80 per cent of the rice-eating population is there. There is enough fortified rice in the country, because at present the production capacity of this rice is about 17 lakh tonnes.
