The Government of India is running many schemes for the welfare of its citizens, one of the major schemes is ration card. This scheme plays an important role in providing food grains to the poor and needy people.
Recently, the government has issued an important information for ration card holders, which all holders must be aware of.
Importance of eKYC
The government has clarified that all ration card holders have to complete their eKYC (electronic KYC). If a holder does not complete his eKYC on time, he will stop getting essential commodities like rice and sugar. The main objective of taking this step is to ensure that the distribution of ration reaches the right and needy people, so that the ration cannot be misused.
Extension of deadline
Earlier, the last date for completing eKYC was 31 September 2024. After this the deadline was extended to 30 November 2024. Now, it has been extended again to 31 December 2024. This means that ration card holders now have about 41 days left to complete their eKYC. If a holder does not get his eKYC done by this date, not only will he stop getting ration, but his name can also be removed from the ration card. This rule is applicable to all those who are availing ration card.
How to do eKYC?
Ration card holders have to follow the following process to complete their eKYC:
1. Visit the nearest ration shop: First of all, you have to visit your nearest ration card shop.
2. Verify identity on POS machine: After reaching the shop, you have to put your thumb print on the POS machine**. This is the way to verify your identity
3. Complete the eKYC process: Once your thumb print is successfully scanned, your eKYC process will be completed.
What if eKYC is not done?
If ration card holders do not get their eKYC done by 31 December 2024, they may face the following problems:
– Lack of ration: They will not receive essential items like rice and sugar.
– Name may be deleted: Their name may be deleted from the ration card, which will completely stop them from getting the benefit of ration.
All ration card holders should take this important information seriously. It is very important to complete the eKYC work on time so that there is no problem in getting ration. This step is not only for your convenience, but it also ensures that the distribution of ration reaches the right and needy people.
